In late July, WRAG members gathered to discuss how they might revitalize WRAG’s Children, Youth, and Families Working Group. At this second meeting, we will hone in on what specific issue(s) the group might address moving forward, as well as what shape that work might take.
Research indicates that there is an exposure which dramatically increases the risk for 7 out of 10 of the leading causes of death in the United States. In high doses, it affects brain development, academic achievement, hormones, and the immune system. What is it? Trauma, or what some call “toxic stress.”
