Our Region, Our Giving 2008

In 2007, foundations in the Washington region gave more than $789 million, a 6% increase since our last analysis (2005). Over that period, the value of total assets for foundations in the region increased by 15%, from $11.5 billion to $13.2 billion.

 

Contributions by the top twenty corporate donors totaled nearly $140 million. The two top corporate givers were mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which gave a combined $46.67 million.
