Calvary Women’s Services seeks an energetic Development Manager who is passionate about fundraising and Calvary’s mission. The Development Manager will have opportunities for leadership and professional growth as Calvary increases our fundraising capacity to support the significant expansion of our programs.             

The Development Manager leads and supports a broad base of fundraising initiatives. A successful candidate works well individually and collaboratively, manages multiple projects effectively, cares about details, and approaches projects with enthusiasm and creativity. The position is a member of a five-person development and communications team and reports to the Chief Development Officer.

The Development Manager provides critical leadership and support to all aspects of the fundraising program. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design and execution of special events, including the annual Hope Awards Dinner, quarterly outreach events, and thank you events
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and other supporters who host events to benefit Calvary
  • Develop and lead annual cultivation and stewardship programs and spearhead new ideas for donor engagement
  • Write four mail appeals annually and coordinate with colleagues to distribute electronic and print appeals
  • Inspire and engage donors with personalized communications and impact reports
  • Offer supervision and support to the Development Associate and an intern, including oversight of data management, donor research, and acknowledgment processes
  • Produce reports for the Development Team, Board of Directors, and major supporters
  • Exercise fundraising best practices and identify opportunities to improve processes and procedures
  • Increase Calvary’s profile through speaking in the community and contributing to our blog and social media



  • At least three years’ experience in relevant development roles, including donor relations, annual giving, and/or special events
  • Initiative and ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently and to meet deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to write compelling content for a variety of audiences
  • A team-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Comfortable giving or receiving constructive, timely, and appropriate feedback
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven organizational skills
  • Experience managing electronic databases and analyzing fundraising data
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Positive attitude, flexible nature, and sense of humor
