The Evergreen Cooperatives initiative in Cleveland remains the leading example of an economic development model focused on employee-ownership for low-income people. WRAG is coordinating a trip to Cleveland for local funders to see this effort firsthand as the Greater Washington region gets closer to the launch of the Community Wealth Building Initiative (CWBI).
In a one-day experience, funders will visit the business sites, hear from the employee owners, have an opportunity to interact directly with the staff of the Cleveland Community Foundation, and meet with city officials who have financially supported this effort.
Attendees are responsible for making their own flight arrangements and covering the cost of the flight. Ground transportation and lunch will be provided. Please contact Rebekah for information on suggested flights, the site visit agenda, and briefing documents on the social and business impact of the Community Wealth Building Initiative.
If you are interested but unable to attend, please let us know.
