“On November 30th from 1:30 – 3:00 PM, Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers (WRAG) will be partnering with Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) and the Virginia Funders Network (VFN) to hold a conversation around public policy and the many ways philanthropy can and must participate in advocacy efforts. The philanthropic sector must understand the necessity for advocacy and public policy as a core element in their grantmaking for real impact. The continuum of activities is broad enough for all foundations to find their means to engage and to understand what levers to pull in service to their mission. This workshop/conversation will get at the heart of issues that worry foundations or keep them from deeply engaging in this work with examples from their colleagues from across the country and national experts. Participants will hear from national experts Abby Levine of Bolder Advocacy and Anna Wallestad of Board Source, as well as Maggie Gunther Osborn, president of MPN. If you are interested in finding out more information about the program, please visit MPN’s website or reach out to Chioma Iwuoha for more details on registering.

We believe these are important conversations for our regional partners and senior leaders and trustees of our member organizations in particular as we work to grow our public policy efforts and collaborations across our individual borders.”
