You are invited to a funders' briefing on the impact of the FY2015 budget decisions on the education experiences of District of Columbia youth with the DC Alliance for Youth Advocates (DCAYA) and the DC Fiscal Policy Institute (DCFPI). DCAYA and DCFPI work on a wide range of educational issues, from early education to alternative education for older teens, and the two groups collaborate frequently to address the educational needs of low-income youth.
The briefing will highlight what we can expect in 2015 across the education sector, including home visiting and child care, the new "at-risk" funding for DCPS and public charter schools, non-traditional school options, and bridge supports from high school to further education or training opportunities. DCAYA and DCFPI will share their assessments of what was won in the budget and what gaps remain, as well as potential implementation issues they have identified.
