In early 2011, members of San Diego Grantmakers (SDG) - one of WRAG’s sister organizations - began meeting to explore how they might collectively support local active military personnel, veterans and their families. In 2012, the group formalized as the Military Family Support Working Group (MFSWG) and focused their efforts on helping with the difficult transition from active duty to civilian status.

What emerged in 2013, after multiple meetings of the MFSWG funders and other stakeholders, is the Military Transition Support Project (MTSP), an unprecedented year-long collaboration among San Diego's military, government agencies, elected officials, nonprofits, businesses, and philanthropic institutions to develop a comprehensive plan to better coordinate community resources for veterans, and to connect those resources to service members as early in the transition process as possible.

Please join us for a brown bag discussion to hear from Nancy Jamison, Executive Director, SDG, about the process to establish the MTSP and its latest accomplishments.
