To ensure that their charitable purposes are fulfilled, private foundations are held accountable to a strict set of rules and regulations, and can incur costly tax penalties for breaking these rules. While private foundations do not pay income taxes, they are subject to an annual excise tax on net investment income and are required to pay penalties for acts of self-dealing, failing to meet minimum distribution requirements, and engaging in lobbying or political activities, just to name a few.

Join your fellow foundation CFOs and finance staff to hear from industry expert Andrew Schulz, General Counsel for Arabella Advisors, on how to navigate the 1% and 2% excise tax, the 5% payout, and self-dealing to avoid costly penalties. Andrew has expertise in a broad cross-section of tax, legislative, and regulatory issues, including tax-exempt organizations, charitable giving, fiscal sponsorship, lobbying, political activity, and international grant making.
