WRAG will hold an emergency funder briefing on the status of asylum seekers that have been sent to our Nation’s Capital. As you may know, the Biden Administration’s decision to end Title 42 expulsions led to a direct response from Texas Governor Abbott in transporting migrant individuals and families from Texas to DC.
First, we will be briefed by city leaders who have the most tactical information on safety, wellness, and the impact on city resources. Then we will hear from two nonprofits who have been working in partnership with the city to address the immediate and emergent needs of the people who have been transported to DC without resources or shelter. We thank the following panelists who will share their insights with us:
-
Alexis L. Squire, Chief Service Officer in the Executive Office of the Mayor
-
Chris Rodriguez, Director of the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency
-
Joan Fowler Brown, Chief of Staff, Catholic Charities
-
Abel Nuñez, Executive Director, CARECEN DC
