Since summer 2018, WRAG's 2020 Census Working Group has convened to learn about the importance of the Census, mobilize investment in Census outreach, and provide a venue for funders to coordinate and share updates on their work. With the 2020 Census now imminent, it is time to consider both immediate actions to support a complete Census count, and to consider how to continue to support the civic engagement infrastructure needed to advance systemic change over the long-term.

Members of the 2020 Census Working Group, and other funders interested in the topics of civic engagement and civic participation, are invited to this meeting on January 21. The first part of the meeting will be an opportunity to share updates with the working group and consider immediate next steps for the group. Then, we'll be joined by three special guests to help us consider philanthropy's role in supporting civic engagement beyond 2020. Guests include:

  • Tram Nguyen, Co-Executive Director, New Virginia Majority
  • Maggie Gunther Osborn, SVP and Chief Strategy Officer, United Philanthropy Forum
  • Nat Chioke Williams, Executive Director, Hill-Snowdon Foundation
