WRAG is the nonprofit association for philanthropy in the Greater Washington Region. Our members of around 100 foundations and corporate giving programs have expressed deep concern about our experiences and the role philanthropy needs to play to improve Black people and other people of the global majority’s experience in philanthropy. However, we will start with Black women. We convened a conversation of foundation executives on Monday. It seems like there is more to be done and more they want to do.
A funder has offered to pay for 10 Black women who are nonprofit executives to convene fellowship for a meal. Food will be provided by Nourrir Cuisine, a Black woman-led catering business in Ward 7. Amanda Misiko Andere – President & CEO of Funders Together to End Homelessness has donated consulting hours for our time together. Though the majority of the time will be used for our stories, our bellies, and our fellowship, Maegan Scott – Founder and CEO of Wayfinding Partners – will take some of the time to lead us in a discussion on
- What Black women need
- What should foundations and corporate giving programs be supporting Black women, and
- What’s next for us? (convening, advocacy, collective action, etc. or nothing because we’re tired and busy! We get to decide.)
- Whatever else you want to talk about!
Registration by Invitation ONLY.
COVID: We want to keep us safe. Proof of both vaccination doses & booster is required, as it will be checked at the door.
