Earlier this year, arts funders convened to look at some of the barriers and opportunities to building a more diverse and equitable arts ecosystem in our region. The wide-ranging conversation spurred more questions than answers – particularly critical questions about the role of philanthropy in advancing a more equitable cultural sector.

Join us for a roundtable discussion to consider those questions and begin to explore specific strategies for increasing equity in grantmaking. Using strategies and best practices generated at Grantmakers in the Arts’ 2014 conference as a jumping off point, Suzan Jenkins (Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County) and Steven Mazzola (DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities) will lead a conversation intended to spur new thinking about how funders can most effectively support diverse organizations and ensure that everyone has opportunities to participate in the vibrant arts sector for which our region is known.
