WRAG's Arts and Humanities Working Group (AHWG) re-launched in 2014 with the goal of strengthening the local arts and humanities sector in our region and increasing public and private philanthropic investment in the sector. Please join us at the next gathering of this group to meet fellow arts funders, discuss your current grantmaking, interests, and concerns, and to learn about what other funders are doing in this space.
We would also like to spend part of the meeting exploring a specific topic: how local arts organizations, across disciplines, are experimenting with ways to reach new and diverse audiences. These audience development initiatives are important for organizations’ long-term viability, particularly here in our region where the cost of doing business is high and audience demographics are changing. At the same time, the ability of arts nonprofits to diversify the audiences they serve also helps to improve the quality of life in our region by ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in and experience the arts. We will discuss these trends, what strategies funders see are working and what are not, and how funders can support their grantees’ efforts.
Come ready to share about your own grantees – and to learn about others.
