A healthy arts ecosystem is one that reflects the diversity of the place it serves, and provides all community members with access and opportunities to meaningfully participate in the arts.
Americans for the Arts (AFTA) is currently undertaking the Greater DC Diversity Pilot Initiative with six local arts agencies. With the goal of identifying incremental and measurable ways of addressing issues related to diversity and equity in the arts, AFTA has convened a series of community discussions around the region with local arts stakeholders to identify locally relevant issues.
Join us to hear from Clay Lord and Abe Flores, who are leading this work at AFTA, about some of their initial learnings from these forums, and engage in a roundtable discussion about how local philanthropy – public, private, and corporate – can advance diversity and equity in the Greater Washington region’s cultural sector. Time will be reserved at the end of the agenda for a funders-only open discussion.
