Meeting with the Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services

This spring CYF members met with Beatriz ’BB’ Otero, the District’s Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, to discuss the programs and priorities of her department. In light of the significant cuts to the FY 2012 budget, Deputy Mayor Otero emphasized the importance of working collaboratively with other agencies with the goal of building an integrated services model for the city. The Deputy Mayor is also working on a variety of initiatives related to the city’s youth, including working with the Public Safety Division, the Deputy Mayor for Education, and the court system to address school truancy. Watch a video of Deputy Mayor Otero discussing how funders can partner with the city to keep D.C.'s youth safe and engaged this summer.
