Children, Youth, and Families Working Group DYRS Update

Vinny Schiraldi, Director of the District's Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, will present to the group on his proposed establishment of a new Service Coalition concept.

Service coalitions operated by Lead Agencies are premised upon the belief that services to troubled youth are best delivered by programs locally controlled in environments as close to their families and local communities as possible.

DYRS believes that it can achieve better outcomes for youth who are primarily served in the communities in which they live by providers vested in those same communities. This shift represents a decentralized and regionalized approach in the responsibility for service provision and oversight from DYRS to community-based organizations in the form of Service Coalitions which are led by Lead Entities.
